Problem

Pre take up (PTU)  discs are made of stainless steel or carbon steel and are hard chrome plated.These are used in 2-for-1 (TFO) twisting machines.

The components are subjected to extreme abrasion by the twisted yarn / fiber. Abrasive yarns like carpet fibers, aramid, polypropylene, jute, etc. abrade these components

Solution 

K-Ramic chemically formed ceramic coatings  are applied on to the surface of the pretakeup discs to produce a very hard and highly smooth surface on the discs.

These surfaces are very kind to the yarn and provide long life.

Life increase is dramatic as compared to hard chrome plated discs. The life increase is 3 to 5 times as compared to hard chrome plated discs.

Some machines use pretakeup discs made of brass. This has to be changed to stainless steel for applying the ceramic coating. K-Ramic chemically formed ceramic coating cannot be applied to brass because of the high differential in thermal coefficient of expansion of the two materials.
